This is a paid, temporary summer of 2009 position
for rising college seniors or recent graduates. The Summer Associate will be assigned to work on the accounts of several politically
right of center advocacy organizations. Specific responsibilities will include but not be limited to: - conducting research for, and writing first drafts of news releases;
- analyzing direct mail fundraising and membership correspondence
to determine expense allocations (program, management & general, or fundraising);
- writing first drafts of correspondence to Members of Congress and their staffs in connection clients
programs;
- assisting with the planning and
execution of media events on Capitol Hill for the purpose of delivering petitions and other documents collected from our clients'
supporters in connection with their grassroots programs;

researching and writing first drafts of articles, reports, and assorted other content for client websites, e-mail campaigns,
and monthly newsletters; and
- conducting background
policy research
At least 60% of the duties
are substantive in nature
Candidates must be
able to work well independently and without a large amount of supervision. Rock-solid writing skills and interest in the public
policy process are absolutely essential. Professional or volunteer experience with a congressional office, advocacy organization
or political campaign is preferred. Blogging, basic web design or social marketing experience is also a plus.
Starting and ending dates are negotiable. Position is located in Annandale, Virginia.
